Raising Special Kids’ Executive Director Christopher Tiffany recently submitted a letter of support<\/a> for a proposed rule that would improve transition services for students with disabilities in Arizona. The rule aims to lower the age at which transition planning begins and requires schools to provide a year\u2019s notice before a student with disabilities graduates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposed changes are designed to ensure that students with disabilities have ample time and support to prepare for life after high school, whether in post-secondary education, employment, or independent living. \u00abThis rule is a vital step in ensuring that students receive the individualized planning and resources they need to succeed after graduation,\u00bb noted Tiffany in the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal aligns with federal guidelines under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which stresses the importance of early transition planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
